Thursday and Saturday nights are live music nights at the 1900 Inn on Montford! Every Saturday during social hour Kevin Scanlon is on the porch performing a wide variety of Bluegrass and "ragtime guitar" music. Our past guests have loved it and so will you!

Southwind, a traditional stringband quintet playing banjo, mandolin, guitar and upright bass, are with us from 6:30 - 7:30 pm. on Thursdays.

You can check them out by visiting their website at www.southwindbluegrass.net where you will find music clips and short biographies. And, they do many Kingston Trio classics. They're great!

Intimate and Romantic - the 1900 Inn on Montford invites you to be our guest and discover bed and breakfast comfort and hospitality with a warmth and graciousness that is reminiscent of Biltmore's Gilded Age. The inn has been lovingly and thoughtfully restored to create the inviting ambience of past splendor and elegance.

The Inn is located in the very heart of the Montford Historic District. It exemplifies the Arts and Crafts style made popular in Asheville by noted society architect, Richard Sharp Smith, supervising Architect to Biltmore House. Illustrated in his publication of 1901, My Sketchbook, the house is considered to be one of his finest residential commissions. Today it is elegantly furnished with English and American antiques dating from 1730 to 1910.

The Inn has four large guestrooms and a five-room 1,000 sq. ft secluded third floor suite, Zelda's Retreat. We have just opened Griffin Cottage, a new carriage house to the rear of the property. It contains two suites, the Rossetti and the Cloisters and a guest room, William Morris. Each guestroom has a fireplace and private bath, seven have a whirlpool bath and shower. The O. Henry Room has a clawfoot tub and shower. The Fitzgerald Room and the Thomas Wolfe Room are the largest bedrooms in the Inn, while the Edith Wharton Room also offers spacious accommodation. All rooms have king-size beds (Fitzgerald has an "imperial king" bed). All rooms have a wireless and wired LAN connection for high speed Internet access and multi-line telephones with a data port feature for easy modem connection, making them ideal for the business traveler, or for those who need to keep in touch! All rooms have personal refrigerators, TVs and VCRs or DVD players and we have an extensive DVD & VCR library. Click here to see the guestrooms.

Coffee or tea  is delivered to your room at 8:00 a.m. Breakfast is served family style in the formal dining room at 9 a.m. with a fruit course, a savory course such as shirred eggs, baked tomato filled with eggs and Brie, and  raspberry-filled French toast; and a dessert course, such as oven Danish, Bavarian puff pancakes, or caramel pecan rolls.

We also have a social hour in the evening. You'll have the opportunity to chat with other guests and we'll give you our favorite dining recommendations.

You enter to the foyer with its stone fireplace and resident cat, Allie, official greeter to the Inn. The foyer leads to the formal living room, library and sun room, filled with seasonal plants and palms, all of which are there for the guests' use as is the antique wicker furniture on the porch which spans the front of the Inn.

The interior is filled with Georgian and Victorian antiques and Persian carpets. It is a gracious back drop for the owner's collections of Victorian silver napkin rings, tea caddies, Staffordshire pottery, English county maps, Baxter prints and period cut glass, which represents thirty years of avid collecting.
